Market Introduction Kazakhstan is the wealthiest and most promising country in Central Asia, with the highest business condition index compared to other members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Kazakhstan has abundant reserves of lithium, cobalt, nickel and other important rare earth elements, and has obvious advantages in the development of the automotive industry. China and Kazakhstan have completed policy docking and started in-depth cooperation in the development of automotive industry clusters. Cooperation in the production of passenger cars, commercial vehicles and new energy vehicles has also been realized. According to Kazakhstan's national development plan, Kazakhstan's annual automobile production is expected to reach 500,000 units by 2026. Kazakhstan is the largest automobile market in Central Asia, but the scale of domestic automobile production is relatively small. Kazakhstan's automobile industry mainly focuses on complete vehicle assembly and parts supporting, with no domestic automobile brands and only 11 automobile assembly enterprises. The proportion of used cars in Kazakhstan is large, and the age of used cars is generally high. Currently, nearly 80% of passenger cars in Kazakhstan are over 10 years old, and old vehicles provide a vast market for auto parts and after-sales services. In terms of new energy vehicles, the charging infrastructure is still not perfect. Kazakhstan has no electric vehicle services, with only 81 charging stations available. The vast majority of these are located in Almaty and Astana. In 2023, Kazakhstan imported more than 149,000 passenger cars (including new and used cars), with a total import value of approximately US$2.9 billion. Of these, over 30% of the vehicles (45,984, mostly new cars) came from China. In Kazakhstan, the market demand for family passenger cars is very large. Compared with more expensive European, American, Japanese and Korean new cars, Chinese cars, which are more affordable, are very attractive to many Kazakh families who hope to update their household vehicles. According to statistics, in 2023, Kazakhs purchased 198,700 vehicles, of which nearly 25% were Chinese brands. Affected by sanctions, there is a shortage of cars and parts imported from Russia, and the Kazakh market is being seized by Chinese automakers. With the progress of Eurasian integration, Kazakhstan has opened up new markets and channels. Trade relations between China and Kazakhstan will also become increasingly close, and now is a good time for Chinese auto brands to enter the Kazakh market. IV.
