II. Market Overview:

“Eagle of the Andes,” Peru is located in western South America, separated from China by the Pacific Ocean, and is one of the earliest Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China and to initiate economic and trade exchanges with China. China and Peru have established a comprehensive strategic partnership. China is Peru’s largest trading partner, while Peru is an important destination for Chinese investment in Latin America. In June 2025, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte paid a state visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese side. During the visit, the two countries engaged in in-depth exchanges across such areas as economic and trade cooperation, the digital economy, and scientific and technological innovation, thereby establishing a robust platform to further boost bilateral economic and trade ties.

Peru is one of the Latin American countries where Chinese immigrants arrived earliest and have established the largest Chinese community. Overseas Chinese and Chinese nationals serve as a bridge of emotional ties between China and Peru, as well as ambassadors of cultural exchange. Strolling through the streets of Lima, one can find Chinese restaurants everywhere, and food from China is deeply beloved by the people of Latin America.

In addition, Peru is the world’s largest exporter of asparagus and red peppers, the leading producer of fishmeal and fish oil, the top exporter of organic bananas and organic coffee, the second-largest exporter of ready-to-eat asparagus, the third-largest exporter of canned pepper powder, the fifth-largest exporter of mangoes, the fifth-largest exporter of avocados, and the seventh-largest exporter of giant squid—while also serving as a premier source of high-quality imports.  

III. Exhibition Overview

The Latin American (Peru) International Food Exhibition has been successfully held for 17 editions, making it one of the most important industry-specific trade shows in Latin America. It attracts companies from around the world specializing in food, packaging, and processing machinery, offering an excellent platform for expanding into the South American market. Over the years, the number of exhibitors has consistently exceeded 600, with an exhibition area of… 23,000㎡ International exhibitors hail from China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Indonesia, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, and many other countries around the globe. Chinese exhibitors showcase products ranging from dehydrated vegetables, seasonings, canned goods, and snacks to food‑grade packaging bags and boxes, disposable tableware, gloves, as well as feed‑processing equipment, puffed‑food production machinery, fruit‑and‑vegetable processing equipment, grain‑and‑oil processing machinery, weighing devices, packaging systems, mixers, grinders, and more. During the 2025 edition of the exhibition, over 31,900 domestic and international visitors attended in person. Among them, more than 1,600 professional buyers from all five continents engaged in business negotiations, with projected transaction volumes totaling US$905 million.
