II. Exhibition Overview

The Thailand Agricultural Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Agricultural Expo”), as the largest agricultural trade show in Thailand and throughout the ASEAN region, enjoys high-level attention from Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and national leaders. Held annually in Thailand, the third edition is scheduled for September 2026. The event aims to strengthen learning exchanges and economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Thailand and countries worldwide, particularly in areas such as green agriculture, smart agriculture, digital agriculture, agricultural industrialization, and agricultural supply chains. By doing so, it seeks to drive the transformation and upgrading of Thailand’s agricultural sector, promote Thai agricultural products on the global stage, and establish an international platform for exchange and collaboration that brings together the global agricultural community to learn, grow, and spark innovative ideas.

The 2026 Agricultural Expo will feature 16 innovative exhibition zones, 65 highlights, 500 booths, over 1,500 exhibiting companies, more than 10,000 professional buyers, a total exhibition space of over 20,000 square meters, and an expected attendance of more than 50,000 visitors. We will meticulously plan media advertising across the pre‑event, during‑event, and post‑event phases, while leveraging both online and offline channels to deliver highly targeted ad spend, attracting a larger pool of qualified customers and professional buyers to attend and make purchases. During the expo, we aim to close more orders, and in the months that follow, to secure even greater order value.

III. Parallel Events

During the exhibition, a series of events were held, including the China–Thailand International Agricultural Cooperation Bangkok Summit, the Briefing on Chinese Agricultural Enterprises Expanding into ASEAN Markets, the China–Thailand Agricultural Enterprise Promotion and Business Matching Fair, the China–Thailand Forum on the International Development of Agricultural Product Processing, the China–Thailand Bangkok Summit on Integrated Development of Agricultural Value Chains, the China–Thailand Bangkok Summit on International Trade Cooperation in Agricultural Products, the Durian Procurement Matchmaking Session, and the Thailand Agricultural Technology Competition. In addition, government delegations paid courtesy visits to Thai government agencies, while business teams conducted field tours of Thai industrial parks, logistics hubs, the Talad Rot Fai Fresh Produce International Wholesale Market, and agricultural enterprises, among other engaging activities.

IV. Market Overview

1. The RCEP has created vast opportunities for China-ASEAN cooperation.

China and ASEAN share contiguous landscapes, and in the face of the severe challenges posed by the pandemic and rising trade protectionism, their combined import‑export volume has surpassed that of the European Union and the United States, making ASEAN China’s largest trading partner. The recently concluded RCEP has become the world’s largest free‑trade area, significantly bolstering ASEAN’s position as Asia’s economic hub. Thailand, as a central member of ASEAN, with its distinctive exotic charm, favorable investment policies, open trade regime, and well‑integrated global supply chains, has attracted a large number of Chinese enterprises to “move south” into ASEAN and tap into the Thai market. On November 19, 2022, General Secretary Xi Jinping and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan‑o‑cha jointly witnessed the signing of the “China–Thailand Strategic Cooperation Joint Action Plan (2022–2026)” and the “China–Thailand Cooperation Plan for Jointly Advancing the Belt and Road Initiative,” which have greatly boosted bilateral trade and investment. According to statistics, in 2023, the total value of China–Thailand trade reached US$104.964 billion, with Thailand exporting US$34.164 billion to China and importing US$70.8 billion from China, resulting in a widening trade deficit of US$36.635 billion.

2. China and Thailand have strong agricultural complementarity.

As one of the traditional agricultural nations within ASEAN, Thailand assigns agriculture a pivotal role in its economic and social structure. Agricultural land accounts for 38% of the country’s total area, and 80% of the population is engaged in farming. Thailand is renowned as the “Granary of Southeast Asia,” being the only net food exporter in Asia and one of the world’s major grain exporters. With the country’s economic development, labor shortages have emerged as a critical challenge in agricultural production, inevitably driving up demand for agricultural machinery. Moreover, with the establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), export opportunities for Chinese agricultural machinery to ASEAN countries have been facilitated, while increased agricultural exports from ASEAN nations have, in turn, spurred their agricultural growth and reinforced the adoption of agricultural mechanization. In recent years, China has become Thailand’s largest export market and its top source of imports, making it Thailand’s leading trading partner.

3. Market Access in the Agricultural Sector between China and Thailand under the RCEP Agreement

Thailand is a major traditional agricultural country, often referred to as the “Granary of Southeast Asia,” and is one of the world’s leading exporters of rice and natural rubber. China and Thailand enjoy strong agricultural complementarity: Thailand excels in agricultural resources and labor, while China boasts advantages in technology, management, and capital, creating substantial potential for cooperation. At present, China has become Thailand’s largest export market for agricultural products and its top source of imports; conversely, Thailand ranks as China’s third-largest supplier of agricultural imports and its fifth-largest exporter of agricultural goods. In terms of trade structure, China–Thailand agricultural exchanges are primarily centered on fruits, vegetables, and grains, with seafood and livestock products also experiencing rapid growth in recent years. On the investment front, under the RCEP framework, the Thai government has broadened access in sectors—such as rice cultivation, orchard farming, dryland agriculture, and animal husbandry—that were previously subject to strict foreign‑investment restrictions, thereby opening up new opportunities for Chinese enterprises looking to invest in Thailand.
