IV. Market Introduction
Yekaterinburg, the host city of this exhibition, was founded in 1723 and is Russia’s third-largest city, after Moscow and Saint Petersburg. It serves as a major transportation hub, an industrial base, and a center for science and education, as well as a key production site for the defense industry. Local enterprises are predominantly engaged in the manufacture of heavy‑duty energy, transportation, and chemical machinery; military‑grade equipment; high‑quality steel; non‑ferrous metals; and chemical products. As the Russian government continues to advance economic restructuring and implement innovation‑driven policies, Russia’s industrial and manufacturing sectors are poised to seize new opportunities for growth.
According to statistics released by the General Administration of Customs of China on July 13, from January to June 2023, Sino-Russian trade increased by 40.6% year-on-year, reaching US$114.547 billion. Specifically, during this period, China’s exports to Russia totaled US$52.284 billion, up 78.1%, while imports from Russia amounted to US$62.263 billion, an increase of 19.4%. In June alone, Sino-Russian trade reached US$20.831 billion, with Chinese exports to Russia at US$9.551 billion and imports from Russia at US$11.280 billion. Additionally, Russia continues to expand the use of the renminbi in settling transactions with third countries.
V. Past Editions Review
In 2024, the four exhibition halls remained fully booked, with tickets sold out three months in advance. The event spanned 50,000 square meters, attracting over 46,000 registered attendees—80% of whom were business leaders and professional buyers. A total of 1,100 companies participated, two-thirds of which were international exhibitors, while nearly 400 were from China. Both the number of exhibitors and the total exhibition space reached record highs. Four prime ministers attended the show: Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus; Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan; and Kokhir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of Tajikistan. Despite sanctions and embargoes, the event was largely unaffected, as participants actively prepared and accelerated efforts to fill the market gaps created by Western companies’ withdrawal from Russia.
