03-15
On July 11, China Great Wall Industry Corporation, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation [4.81% Capital Research Report], successfully signed three turnkey project contracts at the China World Trade Center in Beijing with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, under the Nigerian Ministry of Science and Technology, for the construction of a series of power infrastructure facilities in Nigeria. The total value of the contracts reached 170 million US dollars.
The series of turnkey power infrastructure projects signed this time for Nigeria mainly include: the construction of three automated power distribution and power transformer production lines in Nigeria, a national-level high-voltage power equipment testing laboratory, and the construction of the first solar cell production line. These projects are the first corresponding power equipment production and testing facilities to be built in Nigeria and surrounding African regions, filling a gap in power equipment development in Africa.
After the completion of the three projects, the constructed power equipment and their capabilities will serve the power grid transformation of Nigeria and surrounding countries, greatly improving Nigeria's domestic power transmission issues, solving power equipment testing and power supply problems in remote areas, and laying a solid foundation for improving Nigerian livelihoods and economic development. According to the contract, Great Wall Company will complete project construction, installation, and trial operation in phases.
This cooperation project is a major breakthrough for China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation in related technology application fields, following its successful communication satellite project cooperation with Nigeria. This cooperation is also a successful example of Chinese aerospace utilizing space spillover effects to successfully open up the African market and undertake overseas infrastructure projects after successfully achieving commercial satellite launches and manned spaceflights, marking a solid step in the diversified promotion of Chinese aerospace technology overseas.
Also signed simultaneously at the Nigeria-China Business Forum was a project framework agreement between China Great Wall Industry Corporation and the Nigerian Ministry of Science and Technology concerning the joint construction of the Nigerian Science and Technology Park.
