Market Introduction

Kenya's building materials market has huge development prospects:

Ø Large shopping centers are favored by investors: Urbanization and the continuous expansion of the middle class are increasing consumer demand in Kenya. Kenyan people are also increasingly preferring shopping centers and other consumption venues. The surging demand has prompted domestic and foreign investors in Kenya to focus on the construction of large shopping malls as a key development area.

Ø Hotel project prospects are optimistic: Kenya's continuously growing high-end tourism and business demand has attracted numerous international hotel chain groups to invest in Kenya. In 2013, Hemingway Hotels, Kempinski Hotels, etc., successively settled in Nairobi. Indian Sarova Hotels and Resorts, British Easy Hotels, American Radisson and Best Western, and Thai DusitD2 are all actively planning to enter the Kenyan market. The development of hotel projects has driven enormous demand for hotel supplies.

Ø Office building demand gradually stabilizes: Since 2012, Kenya Airways has opened multiple new routes to Central and West Africa. Leveraging its transportation hub advantage, Kenya has attracted a large number of multinational corporations including General Electric, Google, IBM, and Nestlé to settle in Nairobi, and office building projects have gradually shifted from oversupply to supply-demand balance.

Ø Industrial real estate is poised for development: According to Kenya's Vision 2030, Kenya plans to build a series of industrial science and technology parks, free trade zones, logistics industrial parks, etc. Currently, areas with convenient transportation such as those around Mombasa Road in Nairobi are likely to become highlights for industrial real estate development.

Country Introduction:

Ø Kenya is the African country with the best economic foundation south of the Sahara, and one of the largest trade markets in Africa. In 2014, Kenya's GDP growth rate was 5.3%, and is expected to reach 6.9% in 2015, ranking among the top ten in the world for growth speed. Its superior geographical location makes it a gateway and transportation hub for Africa, and its port has strong trade辐射 capacity to neighboring countries. It is the only pivot of the "Belt and Road" strategy in Africa and one of the countries that receives the most Chinese investment. Kenya has a stable exchange rate, no foreign exchange controls, and foreign company profits can be freely remitted in and out, with prices largely liberalized.

Ø The labor force quality is relatively high, with many foreign investors praising their employees as "skilled, hardworking, and enterprising." Natural conditions are suitable and tourism resources are abundant, with relatively developed financial, aviation, and logistics facilities. The social and political environment is relatively safe and stable, with a good investment environment, and corruption issues are relatively minor among African countries. The Kenyan government is promoting Vision 2030, hoping to join the ranks of newly industrialized and middle-income developed countries before 2030. Zhenghe Exhibition visited Nigerian automotive technology and other industry associations to promote cooperation on the 2025 Nigeria (Lagos) China Goods Expo.

From January 3rd to 6th, 2025, representatives of Zhenghe Exhibition's overseas staff successively visited the secretariat of the Nigerian Automotive Technicians Association (NATA), the Amalgamated Union of Automobile Motor Mechanics and Technicians of Nigeria (AUOMMATON), and the Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN). This visit primarily focused on in-depth discussions and exchanges regarding cooperation for the 2025 Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodities Fair. During the meetings, representatives of Zhenghe Exhibition's overseas staff introduced the basic situation of the Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodities Fair to the heads of the business associations. The heads of the various business associations acknowledged the significant achievements made by the exhibition in recent years. During the discussions, the three industry association leaders provided detailed information about their respective associations. As leaders and promoters of associations related to the automotive industry in Nigeria, these three associations have a wide influence in Nigeria and even West Africa. Against the backdrop of continuously deepening and upgrading China-Africa cooperation, they expressed high expectations for actively promoting trade cooperation between Nigeria and China in the automotive industry. The heads of the associations also stated their willingness to work with Zhenghe International Exhibition to jointly promote the continuous development of the Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodities Fair, uniformly organize member units to participate in the exhibition, and conduct one-on-one matchmaking discussions with Chinese exhibitors. As Africa's second-largest economy and most populous country, Nigeria has a huge demand for automotive and auto parts products, largely relying on imports. In Nigeria, over 90% of Nigerians tend to choose 'tokunbo' (used cars), which makes the 'tokunbo' distribution business very profitable in Nigeria. With the Nigerian government relaxing age restrictions on imported used cars, the volume of used car imports will further increase. Consequently, the auto parts market, both upstream and downstream of Nigeria's used car industry chain, will also see more opportunities. After years of operation by Chinese automakers, Chinese cars have established considerable 'prestige' in Nigeria. At the same time, the scarcity of local car repair outlets and the high cost of spare parts in Nigeria also indicate immense potential for Chinese auto parts exports to the Nigerian market.
