Rising on the 'Cloud', Achieving Dreams Together Through 'Exhibitions' | The 2020 Jinan Import and Export Commodities (Nigeria) Cloud Exhibition Successfully Concluded

06-12

Foreword

Traditionally, participating in exhibitions has been an important way for foreign trade export enterprises to explore international markets and obtain foreign trade orders. However, under the influence of the epidemic, offline exhibitions have become impossible. In order to do a good job in stabilizing foreign trade under the normalized conditions of epidemic prevention and control, and to help foreign trade enterprises in our city find international orders, the Jinan Municipal CCPIT, hosted by Shandong Zhenghe International Exhibition Co., Ltd., The 2020 Jinan Import and Export Commodity Cloud Exhibition - Nigeria Special Session was successfully held on June 10th, taking advantage of the "cloud" to achieve our dreams.

Guest Speech

Zhai Xudong, President of Jinan Municipal CCPIT, said that in 2019, the bilateral trade volume between China and Nigeria reached US$19.27 billion, an increase of 26.3% year-on-year, ranking first in the growth rate among China's top 40 trading partners, with Nigeria's exports to China increasing by 43.1%. In recent years, China has become Nigeria's largest trading partner. The ties between Jinan and Nigeria have become increasingly close, and the bilateral trade share has continued to expand. Last year, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II of Kano State, Nigeria, visited Jinan during the Shandong Friendship City Conference, further strengthening bilateral ties and communication. This year, although the COVID-19 epidemic has severely affected our economic and trade exchanges, it has not hindered the friendship between China and Africa, and the great vision of jointly building the "Belt and Road". Today, we are innovating foreign trade cooperation models, allowing face-to-face exchanges between China and Nigeria, and hope that enterprises from both sides can achieve fruitful results and win-win outcomes.

Toki Mabugonje, Chairman of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in his speech that he is very grateful for the holding of this cloud exhibition, which has built a trade platform for enterprises in Nigeria and China. He also stated that Jinan, as the capital city of Shandong Province, has many high-quality import and export enterprises. Shandong Province has held several Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodity Exhibitions in Lagos, Nigeria for 13 consecutive years, and products from Shandong Province are loved and welcomed by Nigerian companies and consumers. He looks forward to meeting again at the Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodity Exhibition in November after the epidemic is over.

Enterprise Promotion

In the enterprise promotion session, the first company is a high-quality enterprise from Jinan, Shandong, a world-class supplier—Shandong Xiaoya Group Home Appliances Co., Ltd. Founded in 1997, after 40 years of development, Xiaoya has established its own brand "Xiaoya." Our main products have developed from drum washing machines to include drum, pulsator and four other categories, with over 60 series and more than 200 models.

The second enterprise invited is Shandong Quanli Overseas Warehouse Information Technology Co., Ltd., which focuses on helping Chinese heavy-duty vehicle parts enterprises and high-quality parts products to go global. It is a foreign trade company mainly engaged in the business of complete vehicle parts and engineering machinery parts for Sinotruk and Shaanxi Automobile. It is the only professional auto parts mall + overseas warehouse platform in China. It currently has overseas companies and warehouses in Nigeria, providing one-stop vehicle services. At the same time, it relies on Quanli Heavy Parts City to carry out global parts foreign trade business.

Exhibition Highlights

An online exhibition with more buyers than suppliers

According to statistics, considering the time arrangement and the effectiveness of the docking, 35 Nigerian enterprises and 61 Chinese enterprises actually participated in the one-on-one on-site negotiation session of this cloud exhibition. However, the actual number of registered Nigerian buyers was over 110. During the opening promotion phase, all Nigerian enterprises were online to watch, and many enterprises that did not participate in the one-on-one negotiations also inquired with our staff about whether there would be follow-up special docking sessions.
Partial List of Nigerian Participants Online

The participating Nigerian buyers gave very high feedback and evaluation.

Nigerian buyers sent their procurement needs to us.

Business negotiations were conducted in special sessions, with precise matching and significant results.

To better facilitate enterprise docking, this cloud exhibition was divided into three special sessions, held on June 9th, 10th, and 11th. During this period, we repeatedly communicated with Nigerian buyers about their procurement needs and with Chinese enterprises about their export intentions. Based on industry density, we screened and matched them, ultimately achieving 117 one-on-one precise docking sessions.

When facing old friends again,

everyone laughed when our team leader suggested taking a photo of them.

From offline to online, frequent orders from old customers.

In this cloud exhibition, many old friends who had participated in our offline exhibitions also came. For example, Shandong Xiaoya Group, which has participated in our exhibitions many times, stated in this cloud exhibition exchange that the company's products are very suitable for the Nigerian market and gave high praise to the quality of the buyers in this exhibition. In a 15-minute exchange, they found that their products perfectly matched the needs of the buyers they were connected with, laying the foundation for future development of the African market.

A Shandong agricultural machinery equipment manufacturing enterprise achieved more substantial results in this cloud exhibition activity. Its products perfectly matched the procurement needs of Nigerian buyers. In subsequent follow-up understanding, the Nigerian buyer intends to become its product agent in Africa, and is currently discussing more details of future cooperation.

A Shandong papermaking raw material and equipment manufacturing enterprise had a targeted negotiation with a Nigerian printing enterprise in this activity, expressing great procurement intentions for printing raw materials and production equipment. We will report on the specific cooperation details later.
A Shandong food machinery enterprise established close contact with the local bread baking association in Nigeria, expressing that it will further discuss cooperation on bread baking equipment, and the cooperation intention is good.

A Shandong pharmaceutical enterprise established contact with a Nigerian traditional Chinese medicine health enterprise, and is currently communicating via email about the cooperation on several health products.
......

Next, we believe we will receive more such good news. When more specific and practical cooperation cases are presented before us, nothing is more joyful than this.
Here, the cloud exhibition is not a catchphrase that takes advantage of the situation, but an effort to seize opportunities in times of crisis;

Here, more than 100 matchmaking meetings are not a simple number, but represent more than 100 attempts we have made to facilitate a single deal;

Here, we sincerely hope that all participating enterprises from China and Nepal can achieve success, leveraging the cloud to rise, sharing dreams through the exhibition, and achieving mutual success in the future!
Please continue to follow for more professional cloud exhibitions

Zhenghe Exhibition visited Nigerian automotive technology and other industry associations to promote cooperation on the 2025 Nigeria (Lagos) China Goods Expo.

From January 3rd to 6th, 2025, representatives of Zhenghe Exhibition's overseas staff successively visited the secretariat of the Nigerian Automotive Technicians Association (NATA), the Amalgamated Union of Automobile Motor Mechanics and Technicians of Nigeria (AUOMMATON), and the Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN). This visit primarily focused on in-depth discussions and exchanges regarding cooperation for the 2025 Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodities Fair. During the meetings, representatives of Zhenghe Exhibition's overseas staff introduced the basic situation of the Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodities Fair to the heads of the business associations. The heads of the various business associations acknowledged the significant achievements made by the exhibition in recent years. During the discussions, the three industry association leaders provided detailed information about their respective associations. As leaders and promoters of associations related to the automotive industry in Nigeria, these three associations have a wide influence in Nigeria and even West Africa. Against the backdrop of continuously deepening and upgrading China-Africa cooperation, they expressed high expectations for actively promoting trade cooperation between Nigeria and China in the automotive industry. The heads of the associations also stated their willingness to work with Zhenghe International Exhibition to jointly promote the continuous development of the Nigeria (Lagos) China Commodities Fair, uniformly organize member units to participate in the exhibition, and conduct one-on-one matchmaking discussions with Chinese exhibitors. As Africa's second-largest economy and most populous country, Nigeria has a huge demand for automotive and auto parts products, largely relying on imports. In Nigeria, over 90% of Nigerians tend to choose 'tokunbo' (used cars), which makes the 'tokunbo' distribution business very profitable in Nigeria. With the Nigerian government relaxing age restrictions on imported used cars, the volume of used car imports will further increase. Consequently, the auto parts market, both upstream and downstream of Nigeria's used car industry chain, will also see more opportunities. After years of operation by Chinese automakers, Chinese cars have established considerable 'prestige' in Nigeria. At the same time, the scarcity of local car repair outlets and the high cost of spare parts in Nigeria also indicate immense potential for Chinese auto parts exports to the Nigerian market.

Among them, trade between Nigeria and China is booming. In 2023, the total trade volume between China and Nigeria soared to an astonishing 281.777 billion USD, with China's exports to Nigeria reaching 172.469 billion USD, highlighting the immense appeal of Chinese products in the Nigerian market. The main hot-selling products fall into the following major categories: 1. Electromechanical Products and Agricultural Machinery Products From efficient power generation equipment to reliable electrical products, China's electromechanical products have continuously met Nigeria's growing needs and directly promoted the rapid development of its infrastructure construction. In addition, hardware tools, power tools, construction machinery, and other electromechanical products are also very popular. The import of agricultural machinery, food machinery, and packaging machinery has adapted to the development needs of Nigeria's agriculture and food processing industries. At the same time, industrial manufacturing-related electromechanical products such as machine tools provide strong support for Nigeria's industrial development. 2. Textile and Garment Products Nigeria is Africa's most populous country, with a current population exceeding 227 million, leading to huge domestic market demand. Textiles and clothing are major export items from China to Nigeria, accounting for 15% of China's total exports to Nigeria.
