Exhibition Overview:

The Algiers International Fair, founded in 1963, is the largest and most influential comprehensive exhibition in North Africa. It is Algeria's "Canton Fair" and has been successfully held for 48 sessions. In recent years, the number of participating countries has exceeded 30 every year, with an exhibition area exceeding 70,000 square meters. The main audience comes from Algeria and surrounding African countries, as well as European countries such as Turkey, France, and Spain. Exhibition areas are set up by country, with dedicated pavilions for China, France, Italy, the United States, Tunisia, Morocco, etc. The Prime Minister and various ministers attend the opening ceremony and tour the exhibition every year.

Introduction to the Algerian Market

As the largest country in Africa by land area and the third-largest economy (ranked after Nigeria and South Africa in 2015 with a GDP of $187.17 billion), Algeria not only possesses abundant oil, gas, and mineral resources but also has a vast market for trade, engineering contracting, and investment. In 2014, the per capita GDP was $5394, and the economic growth rate was 3%, with economic and social development entering a rapid period. The main export products are oil and natural gas supplied to the United States and the European Union. In recent years, Algeria's imports have steadily increased, rising from $21 billion in 2006 to $58.2 billion in 2014, a 1.77-fold increase in eight years.

Algeria is one of the two countries that initiated the proposal for China to join the United Nations. For many years, the governments and people of China and Algeria have enjoyed a traditional and profound friendship. The two countries announced the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership in February 2014. Algeria has now become one of the most important overseas engineering contracting markets for Chinese companies. The cooperation between the two sides in housing, highways, railways, energy, communications, medical care, and education has yielded significant results. The economic, trade, and investment cooperation between China and Algeria is highly complementary and has broad prospects. China's exports of electromechanical products to Algeria have increased year by year, rising from $2.22 billion in 2010 to $4.26 billion in 2014, an increase of almost double in four years.
