Trade exhibitions over 10,000 square meters are eligible to apply for subsidies, with a maximum subsidy of 1.5 million yuan per project. For relevant large market-oriented conferences held in Qingdao for more than 2 days and with over 500 attendees, a subsidy of 100,000 to 200,000 yuan will be granted. Recently, Qingdao introduced 10 policies to promote the development of the exhibition industry.
It is understood that the Qingdao Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Qingdao Exhibition Office) and the Qingdao Municipal Finance Bureau recently led the formulation of the "10 Policies of Qingdao City to Promote the Development of the Exhibition Industry." These policies cover incentives and subsidies for large-scale exhibitions, digital exhibitions, green exhibitions, internationally certified exhibitions, large market-oriented conferences, promotion and marketing, and COVID-19 relief, among other contents, providing active support for Qingdao to accelerate its establishment as a vibrant and attractive international exhibition city.
The "10 Policies" focus on "dual circulation" and have increased support for large-scale exhibitions. Trade exhibitions over 10,000 square meters are eligible to apply for subsidies, with a maximum subsidy of 1.5 million yuan per project. At the same time, new subsidies have been added for consumer exhibitions over 20,000 square meters to give full play to the pulling effect of large-scale exhibitions on the "grand circulation." In addition, support for high-end exhibitions has been increased. For exhibitions with a high degree of internationalization, or with more than 20% participation from "Fortune Global 500" or "China Top 500" companies, or exhibitions featuring new product launches, the subsidy standard will be increased by 20%. International exhibitions and conferences that have obtained relevant international certifications will also receive certain subsidies.
The "10 Policies" focus on the "dual carbon" goals and have added support for green and digital exhibitions. To encourage innovative development in the exhibition industry, the policies stipulate subsidy provisions for green and digital exhibitions that meet Qingdao's standards. To ensure the implementation of this policy, the Qingdao Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Qingdao Exhibition Office) also guided the Qingdao Exhibition Industry Association to formulate and release Qingdao's assessment standards, principles, and method guidelines for green and digital exhibitions.
The "10 Policies" focus on the integration of conventions and industries and have increased support for large market-oriented conferences. To attract more high-quality large-scale conferences and events to Qingdao and drive the development of related industries such as tourism, a subsidy of 100,000 to 200,000 yuan will be granted for relevant large market-oriented conferences held in Qingdao for more than 2 days and with over 500 attendees.
The "10 Policies" focus on strengthening foundations and have increased support for excellent exhibition enterprises. Exhibition enterprises with outstanding local contributions will receive a maximum subsidy of 300,000 yuan. For exhibition enterprises that engage in capital operations, introduce high-end exhibition talents, or actively participate in Qingdao's exhibition promotion activities, certain subsidies will also be granted according to relevant standards.
In addition, the "10 Policies" also added relevant relief clauses. For exhibitions canceled due to force majeure events like epidemics, 20% of the incurred publicity costs will be subsidized, actively helping enterprises overcome difficulties.
