The recently announced visa waiver with Singapore may make it a popular choice for Chinese citizens traveling abroad during the Spring Festival. According to Xinhua News Agency, the "Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Singapore on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Ordinary Passports" was officially signed on January 25, 2024, and will come into effect on February 9, 2024 (Chinese New Year's Eve). At that time, citizens of both countries holding ordinary passports will be able to enter the other country visa-free for tourism, family visits, business, and other private matters, with a stay not exceeding 30 days.

To date, China has concluded visa exemption agreements covering different passport types with 157 countries, simplified visa procedures with 44 countries, and achieved comprehensive visa exemption with 22 countries, including Singapore, the Maldives, and Kazakhstan. In addition, more than 60 countries and regions offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival convenience to Chinese citizens. The convenience of outbound travel for Chinese citizens has greatly improved, and the "gold content" of the Chinese passport will continue to rise.
