2013 Nigeria (Lagos) China Goods Fair
03-12
The 2013 China Products Exhibition in Nigeria (Lagos), hosted by the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, and organized by Shandong Zhenghe International Exhibition Co., Ltd., was successfully held from November 5-9 in Lagos, Nigeria. The exhibition was held as a "show-within-a-show" within the Lagos International Trade Fair, with the venue at TBS Square. This China Products Exhibition covered an area of 2000 square meters (including 110 square meters of outdoor space). Exhibitors came from 10 provinces and cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Fujian, and Henan, with 101 companies and 107 booths. The exhibition hall was divided into four major areas: electromechanical products, building materials, hardware, and home appliances & daily necessities, focusing on showcasing quality Chinese products and corporate image.
The Lagos International Trade Fair is the most influential exhibition in Nigeria and even across West Africa. The exhibition started in 1981 and has been held annually since 1986. The fair is organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and co-organized by the Nigerian Federal Government and the Lagos State Government. Currently, it is the largest in scale and influence in West Africa, and has become an important platform for economic and trade cooperation and exchange in Africa. The China Products Exhibition, as a show-within-a-show, has been held for the seventh consecutive year this year.
During the exhibition, visitors flocked in. According to incomplete statistics, nearly 10,000 visitors attended, among whom more than 3,000 were professional buyers. The buyers mainly came from Nigeria and neighboring ECOWAS countries. Exhibitors at this exhibition generally gave positive feedback. Through participating, they achieved the goals of market research and understanding local customer needs. Each exhibitor on average held discussions with 31 clients. 80% of exhibitors believed that market demand in Nigeria was good, 87% of exhibitors believed their products met local market demand, and 65% of exhibitors believed their products had potential but required long-term cultivation. Some exhibitors met new clients and established potential trade channels through the exhibition.
During the exhibition, the organizer held an opening reception. Consul General Liu Xianfa of the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos attended and delivered a wonderful speech. Counselor Jia from the Commercial Office, Consul Zhang, Consul Pang, Chairman Ibarlu of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other guests from the Nigeria China Business Association inspected and visited the China exhibition. This exhibition also received strong attention from the media. 17 media outlets, including NTA National Channels 2 and 10 in Nigeria, Xinhua News Agency's Lagos Bureau, China Radio International's Nigeria correspondent station, PUNCH, BusinessDay, SUN, SATURDAY NEWSWATCH, and NAN website, provided follow-up reports on the China Products Exhibition. This played a significant role in increasing the exhibition's influence and enhancing the visibility of the China Pavilion.
With the strong guidance and support from the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos, the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, and the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, and with the full cooperation of various partner organizations, this exhibition was a complete success. For many years, our company has been committed to expanding and strengthening its presence in the African market. We will continue to organize exhibitions in 2014. We welcome the active participation of all exhibitors.
