Exhibition Introduction

The Seoul International Food Exhibition (Seoul Food), which began in 1983, has grown alongside the food industry and has now developed into the third largest international food exhibition in Asia. In 2019, the 37th Seoul International Food Exhibition (Seoul Food) was held in Seoul, South Korea, with an exhibition area of 76,121 square meters. 1500 exhibitors from 44 countries and regions, including China, the United States, Japan, Germany, and Vietnam, participated, attracting 55,000 visitors from more than 50 countries. Every year, buyers and purchasers from all over the world look forward to this large-scale exhibition representing Korean and Asian food.

Market Background

As a major trading nation ranked 13th globally in trade volume, South Korea has relatively low agricultural exports. Due to limited land and pasture area, it cannot achieve self-sufficiency in grain and feed. As a country with increasing industrialization levels and labor costs, South Korea has to rely on imports to promote the development of its food industry trade. China, a major food producing country, is a major importer for South Korea. Among Chinese agricultural products, soybeans, sesame, walnuts, garlic, green vegetables, tea, and fruit pulp are particularly popular among South Korean buyers. Simultaneously, South Korea has a high consumption level and strong health consciousness, making Chinese health foods very popular in South Korea.
