Market Situation

The Egypt Sahara International Agricultural Exhibition mainly radiates the African and Middle Eastern markets. Currently, the rapidly growing population and the huge demand for increased agricultural products have determined the important position of Africa and the Middle East as a key development market for the global agricultural industry in the future.

In 2019, Africa's population reached 1.3 billion, with a natural population growth rate of 2.5%, 4.5 times that of China. Africa must significantly increase food production in the next 10 years to cope with the increase in population. Egypt is a traditional agricultural country, with the rural population accounting for 55% of the total national population, and about 5.5 million agricultural workers, accounting for 31% of the total national workforce. The Egyptian government attaches importance to expanding cultivated land and encourages young people to engage in agriculture. The total arable land area is 3.1 million hectares, accounting for about 3.7% of the total land area.

Both China and Egypt are major fertilizer and agricultural countries. In recent years, both countries have made significant progress in agricultural infrastructure, equipment manufacturing, and technological promotion. The two countries have the potential for mutually beneficial development. For example, Egypt is rich in phosphate resources and can provide China with high-quality phosphate fertilizers, while China has made remarkable achievements in agricultural modernization and can provide Egypt with development experience and supporting facilities suitable for Egypt's agricultural development. Under the guarantee of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum mechanism, China-Africa agricultural cooperation has great potential.
