II. Exhibition Introduction

The Thailand International Manufacturing Expo is held annually in Bangkok, Thailand, and has successfully run for twenty-four editions. The previous exhibition attracted 55,580 visitors from various Southeast Asian countries for visits and business discussions, and 2,100 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions participated. The exhibition area was approximately 60,000 square meters. As the two main themes of the exhibition, mechanical manufacturing and mechanical equipment are highly specialized and technically representative, reflecting the development level of mechanical manufacturing and mechanical equipment in Asia. In recent years, Thailand has actively participated in regional economic cooperation, joining APEC and the ASEAN Free Trade Area. It has also actively engaged in water and land transport cooperation in the upper Mekong River region among China, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, promoting the "economic growth triangle" process in the areas adjacent to Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. With the development of manufacturing and service industries, especially the rise of tourism, Thailand's economic structure has undergone significant changes, gradually transforming from an agricultural country primarily exporting agricultural products to an emerging industrial nation. In trade between China and Thailand, mechanical equipment holds a dominant position among goods imported by Thailand from China.

III. Market Analysis

Thailand is the second largest economy in Southeast Asia, after Indonesia, and is recognized as one of the world's emerging industrial nations and emerging market economies. Manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism are the main sectors of its economy. Thailand is the only net food exporter in Asia and one of the world's top five agricultural product exporters. Manufacturing industries such as electronics are developing rapidly, with significant changes in industrial structure. The automotive industry is a pillar industry, serving as Southeast Asia's automotive manufacturing center and ASEAN's largest automotive market;

In 2018, the bilateral trade in goods between Thailand and China amounted to 79.93 billion US dollars, an increase of 7.8%. Of this, Thailand's imports from China were 50.23 billion US dollars, an increase of 12.3%, accounting for 20% of Thailand's total imports. Thailand's trade deficit was 20.53 billion US dollars, an increase of 33.9%.

Electromechanical products account for half of Thailand's total imports from China, with imports reaching 23.57 billion US dollars in 2018, an increase of 12.9%, accounting for 46.9% of Thailand's total imports from China.

Thailand is an important nodal country in the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road"; in 2017, Thailand's GDP achieved a 4% growth, and its total import and export volume reached 459 billion US dollars, with exports reaching 236 billion US dollars and imports 227 billion US dollars, growing by 10% and 14.7% respectively. Thailand has introduced a 20-year national development strategy, Thailand 4.0 strategy, and the Eastern Economic Corridor development plan, vigorously promoting infrastructure construction, ten key industries and super industries, border economic special zones, etc. These measures are highly consistent and mutually beneficial with China's "Belt and Road" initiative;

Bangkok is the capital and largest city of Thailand, the second largest city in Southeast Asia. Its GDP accounts for 44% of Thailand's total economy, and Bangkok Port handles 90% of Thailand's cargo transportation. Bangkok is an important logistics, financial, and exhibition center in Southeast Asia;
