II. Exhibition Introduction

The Seoul Food, launched in 1983, has grown alongside the food industry and has become one of the four major international food exhibitions in Asia. In 2023, the 40th edition was successfully held, attracting 1316 exhibitors from 40 countries and over 42144 buyers. Every year, buyers and purchasers from all over the world look forward to this large-scale exhibition representing Korean and Asian food.

III. Market Background

As a major trading nation ranked 13th globally in trade volume, South Korea has limited agricultural exports. Due to limited land and pasture area, it cannot achieve self-sufficiency in grains and feed. As a country with increasing industrialization levels and labor costs, South Korea has to rely on imports to promote the development of its food industry trade. China, a major food producing country, is a major importer for South Korea. Products such as fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen fruits and vegetables, vermicelli, freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, pickles, sauces, food additives, seasonings, aquatic products, meat products, and alcoholic beverages are highly sought after by South Korean buyers. Meanwhile, South Korea has a high consumption level and strong health awareness, making Chinese health foods very popular in South Korea.
