III. Market Introduction

Indonesia - Bright Prospects for the Automotive Industry in Southeast Asia, with Indonesia's automotive aftermarket revenue expected to reach approximately US$13.6 billion by 2026.

With over 280 million people, Indonesia is the largest new and used car market in Southeast Asia (ASEAN). In 2023, Indonesia became the champion in domestic sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in ASEAN with sales of 1,048,040 units, making it the largest automotive market in ASEAN. Currently, Indonesia accounts for approximately 33% of ASEAN's annual vehicle sales.

The growing urban population and the disposable income of the working population are driving the growth of the used car industry. The higher proportion of middle-income groups in second-tier cities is leading to increasing demand for used cars.

According to BPS data, as of 2021, the number of registered land vehicles was 141,992,573 units, including 16,413,348 passenger cars, 237,261 buses, 5,299,361 commercial vehicles (trucks, box vans, special vehicles), and 141,992 units.573 units motorcycles. Due to the large number of vehicles, the value of the Indonesian automotive aftermarket in 2020 was approximately US$8 billion, and is expected to reach approximately US$13.6 billion by 2026.

Automotive industry: From January to November 2022, domestic sales of four-wheeled and above vehicles approached the annual target of 942,499 units. It is estimated that 2022 automotive sales could reach over 1 billion units, exceeding the target.

Another indicator is Indonesia's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI). In September 2022, it recorded 53.7, higher than 51.7 in August 2022. S&P Global survey results showed that Indonesia's manufacturing expansion rate during this period was the fastest in 8 months, indicating overall robustness. Even Indonesia's Manufacturing PMI in September 2022 surpassed the World Manufacturing PMI (50.3) and ASEAN (53.5). It is expected that Indonesia's automotive market will improve and is currently close to normal conditions.

GEM Indonesia, as one of Indonesia's leading event organizers, fully supports government programs. Regarding this industry, we will hold the 13th INAPA 2024 exhibition - the Indonesia International Automotive Industry Trade Show, which will take place from May 15 to 17, 2024, at JIExpo, Jakarta.

INAPA 2024 will be held concurrently with other related exhibitions (such as Inabike 2024, Tire & Rubber Indonesia 2024, Inafastener 2024, Electric Vehicle Indonesia 2024, etc.), preparing to present an exciting exhibition and become a platform offering vast opportunities for the automotive aftermarket and OEM industries. This exhibition will be an excellent opportunity to connect with leading automotive industry professionals from the wider region.

On January 1, 2023, the RCEP completed its first anniversary, bringing significant benefits to China. From January to November 2022, the total import and export volume between China and other RCEP members reached 11.8 trillion yuan (RMB, same below), a year-on-year increase of 7.9%, significantly higher than China's trade growth with the EU and the US during the same period, accounting for 30.7% of China's total foreign trade. Among these, China's exports to other RCEP members reached 6.0 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.7%, exceeding the national overall export growth rate by 5.8 percentage points.

Taking trade between China and ASEAN as an example, in the first 11 months of 2022, the total trade value between China and ASEAN increased by 15.5% year-on-year, accounting for 15.4% of China's total foreign trade, with ASEAN continuing to be China's largest trading partner. Among these, China's exports to ASEAN reached 3.42 trillion yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate as high as 22.2%.

RCEP holds very significant importance for regional and even global trade, with mutual benefit and win-win outcomes among member states, jointly promoting the formation of a larger market where consumers in various countries can share more and higher-quality products.
