5. Exhibition Introduction:
The Russia International Industrial Expo is the largest industrial exhibition in Russia and the CIS region. Founded in 2010, it is jointly organized by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Sverdlovsk Oblast Government. Held annually in Yekaterinburg, a major industrial center and the third largest city in Russia, the exhibition is highly valued by the Russian government as an important platform to showcase the country's industrial achievements and promote international cooperation in high-tech and innovation fields. Prime Minister Medvedev has attended and delivered keynote speeches at the last six exhibitions.
Review of the Last Exhibition:
The 2018 Russia International Industrial Expo attracted over 600 exhibitors from 20 countries, including China, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, India, Iran, Japan, Turkey, Czech Republic, UAE, Belgium, France, Lithuania, Belarus, and South Korea. Among them were many internationally renowned companies such as Siemens, SAP, FANUC, Volvo, KUKA, and Yamazaki Mazak. Major Russian companies such as Rosoboronexport, SHVABE Holding, and Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Corporation also participated. The exhibition covered an area of 50,000 square meters and attracted 50,000 visitors over four days, including 95 government procurement groups, with 60% of visitors holding decision-making power.
Review of China as Guest Country in 2015:
In 2015, China participated in the Yekaterinburg International Industrial Expo as the guest country. More than 130 Chinese companies participated, including key enterprises in the equipment manufacturing sector such as China Railway Corporation, CASC, CASIC, COMAC, Aviation Industry Corporation of China, CNNC, Xidian Group, CSIC, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, CCCC, XCMG, FAW Group, and NORINCO, as well as companies from Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, and Gansu provinces.
Market Introduction:
Russia is an important market for China's Belt and Road Initiative and its 'going global' strategy. From January to December 2017, bilateral trade between China and Russia reached US$84.071 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%. China's exports to Russia totaled US$42.876 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.8%, while imports from Russia reached US$41.195 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27.7%. China has maintained its position as Russia's largest trading partner for six consecutive years. Bilateral trade volume is expected to reach US$200 billion by 2020. The bilateral trade structure is continuously being optimized, with trade in machinery and electrical equipment and high-tech products maintaining double-digit growth. Investment cooperation between the two countries is flourishing, with strategic large-scale projects in energy, nuclear energy, aviation, aerospace, and infrastructure construction steadily progressing.
Yekaterinburg, the host city of the exhibition, was founded in 1723 and named after Empress Catherine I. It is the third largest city in Russia, after Moscow and St. Petersburg, and is an important transportation hub, industrial base, and scientific and educational center. It is also a significant military industrial production base in Russia. The city's enterprises mainly engage in the production of heavy energy, transportation and chemical machinery equipment, military technology equipment, high-quality steel, non-ferrous metals, and chemical products. Large industrial companies such as the Ural Steel Plant, Uralmash, Heavy Electrical Machinery, and Turboengine are located here.
