A new chapter of flourishing! The 2025 China Brand Products Exhibition in Nigeria has reaped abundant results, and the journey for 2026 is now set to begin!

11-10

The China Commodities Expo-Nigeria 2025 was successfully held at Landmark Event Centre, Lagos, Nigeria from November 5 to 7. Exhibitors from Shandong, Shaanxi, Hunan, Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and other provinces displayed products covering a wide range of industrial and household sectors, including agricultural machinery, construction machinery, vehicles and spare parts, power equipment, hardware and building materials, electronic and electrical appliances, solar and photovoltaic products, cosmetics, textiles and garments, home appliances, kitchen supplies and daily necessities.
Yan Yuqing, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos; Wang Deyang, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce; Folashade, Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce; Olubunmi, Manager of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria; Lane, Chairman of Ogun State Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Michael, Representative of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria attended the event and delivered speeches. As Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria is expected to record a GDP growth rate of around 3.4% in 2025. It has a population of 226 million, and its middle-class population is projected to exceed 100 million by 2030, which will trigger explosive demand for consumer goods such as home appliances, electronics and fast-moving consumer goods. Power shortages have fueled robust demand for photovoltaic energy storage products, while infrastructure construction and agriculture boast enormous market potential. Against the backdrop of continuous optimization of business environments by China and Nigeria, bilateral economic and trade relations are thriving.

Business Opportunities for Enterprises Entering Africa

      1. Agricultural Machinery & Agricultural Product Processing

As Africa’s most populous country with abundant arable land, Nigeria suffers an extremely low agricultural mechanization rate and faces severe shortages of core farming equipment and spare parts including seeders, harvesters and irrigation facilities. Meanwhile, its capacity for deep processing of agricultural products remains underdeveloped. Cash crops such as palm oil, cocoa and cassava are mostly exported as primary raw materials, with refined finished products relying heavily on imports. Domestic supply of livestock and dairy products, staple foods and deep-processed fresh produce can only meet partial market demand, forcing Nigeria to spend massive sums annually on relevant imports. There is a prominent demand gap in agricultural machinery and processed agricultural goods.
Shuangfeng County in Loudi, Hunan Province, known as the Hometown of Chinese Agricultural Machinery, achieved remarkable results with its exhibitors this year. Its featured small agricultural machinery including rice mills, cultivators and disc tractors gained immense popularity across Africa for their cost-effectiveness and strong adaptability to local conditions. During this year’s exhibition, one local enterprise received nearly one hundred potential clients from Nigeria and neighboring countries. Non-stop on-site consultations and negotiations pushed exhibition popularity and cooperation results far beyond expectations.

2. New Energy

Less than 60% of Nigeria’s population has access to stable electricity, with nearly 90 million people living without reliable power and frequent grid collapses. The government has rolled out the National Energy Transition Plan, targeting a 40% renewable energy share in its energy mix by 2040. Endowed with abundant solar and wind energy resources, Lagos State has also launched Africa’s first offshore wind power bidding project, creating huge business opportunities in photovoltaic energy storage and related sectors.
In the first half of 2025, Fujian’s exports of new energy products to Africa surged by 133.5% year-on-year, mainly consisting of lithium-ion batteries, photovoltaic products and electric vehicles. Driven by supportive policies and strong market demand, Fujian’s new energy enterprises secured abundant orders at the exhibition. Their integrated solar and energy storage machines and household energy storage systems, designed to adapt to Africa’s high-temperature and dusty environments, attracted crowds of buyers for in-depth business talks, further demonstrating the booming market demand for Chinese new energy products in Africa.

3. Infrastructure, Construction Hardware & Building Materials

With Africa’s accelerating urbanization, intensive launch of industrial projects and continuous infrastructure development, the local market for building materials and hardware is witnessing vigorous growth. The region relies on imports for up to 70% of its infrastructure and hardware products. Core demand covers heavy construction equipment, saw blades, steel pipes and various mechanical hardware, maintaining an annual demand growth rate of 8% to 10%. Coupled with supporting demand generated by a housing shortage of over 120 million units across Africa, market demand keeps rising sharply.
Shandong enterprises specializing in used commercial vehicles, long-term participants of this exhibition, achieved outstanding results at the 2025 China Brand Goods Exhibition (Nigeria). The show has become a core platform for them to expand African business footprint. During the exhibition, the enterprise held a special new product launch event that drew wide attention from members of the Nigerian Automobile Association. It not only built efficient local marketing channels and boosted overseas brand influence, but also conducted targeted communications with dozens of partners including distributors, end consumers and long-term clients, laying a solid foundation for long-term market development in Nigeria.

4. Daily Consumer Goods

Benefiting from a huge population base, rapidly expanding middle class and accelerated urbanization, Nigeria’s daily consumer goods market boasts broad prospects and strong growth momentum. Its total population is forecast to surpass 260 million by 2030. The large young demographic with rising purchasing power generates robust demand across food and beverages, beauty products, personal care, home appliances, apparel and other segments.
Driven by its massive population, Nigeria’s consumer goods market features diversified categories and soaring demand. Our company has organized this Nigeria exhibition for nearly two decades and witnessed a diverse array of daily consumer goods exhibitors every year. At this year’s show, an unassuming small lighter unexpectedly became the biggest crowd magnet and caught the eye of African buyers.
“Besides competitive pricing, daily consumer goods sold in Africa must focus on durability to attract more customers,” an on-site exhibitor commented. “Small products, huge market.” With the continuously improved cost performance of Chinese light industrial goods, Chinese enterprises going global have found a new breakthrough to tap into Africa’s mass consumer market.
