On the afternoon of April 18, the "Belt and Road Initiative - Focus on India" event in the Canton Fair Import Exhibition Area was successfully held at the Canton Fair Complex. This event was jointly organized by the China Foreign Trade Centre, Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and the Federation of Indian Export Organisations.
Expert Interpretation Helping Enterprises Explore Emerging Markets
Li Jinqi, Director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, pointed out in his speech that in recent years, the Chinese government has actively implemented the "Belt and Road" strategy, and the Canton Fair has played a positive role in promoting economic and trade cooperation between China and countries along the "Belt and Road" route. He encouraged more Indian enterprises to actively leverage the policy benefits of the "Belt and Road" and utilize the Canton Fair platform to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation and exchanges with Chinese enterprises and explore the Chinese market.
Ajay Sahai, President of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations, highlighted the current characteristics of the Indian market and the specific preferential measures taken by the Indian government to attract foreign investment. He pointed out that as a strongly developing "young" country, India has a significant demographic dividend, a large proportion of middle-class domestic consumers, considerable market demand potential, and notable competitive advantages in manufacturing. The government's policy orientation is clear in areas such as tax incentives, investment facilitation, and intellectual property protection.
Trade Matching Building an Efficient Economic and Trade Promotion Platform
After the guest speeches, Indian exhibitors from the Canton Fair Import Exhibition Area conducted trade matching with domestic import purchasing enterprises, engaging in in-depth face-to-face exchanges to discover resources, discuss trade, and promote cooperation.
Indian exhibitors highly praised the import exhibition area and this event. Denish Kansagara, head of Sagar Polytechnic LTD., told reporters that the relationship between Chinese and Indian manufacturers is becoming increasingly close, and industry exhibitions are the best trade platform. His company gains many potential orders from participating in exhibitions every year.
Domestic purchasing enterprises also stated that this event played a positive role in promoting trade transactions with the Indian market. Li Bitao, Manager of Business Department Six at Guangzhou Light Industrial Products Import & Export Group Co., Ltd. (Hengrui), told reporters that in recent years, the company's exports to the Indian market have been good, maintaining a growth of around 30% annually. She stated: "India, as an emerging market, is developing rapidly. We look forward to finding high-quality partners through the Canton Fair Import Exhibition Area and this trade matching event."
