Exhibition Notes: Impressions of Manila
Today, I'd like to share a beautiful article.
The author of this beautiful article is an old friend who is currently in Manila with the Zhenghe exhibition group.
Philippines Manila International Auto Parts Exhibition
An old friend who participated in the exhibition.
Beautiful words~Beautiful pictures~
♦ PHILAUTO, the Philippines Auto Parts Exhibition, is the largest and most professional international exhibition of auto and motorcycle parts, services, and repair equipment in the Philippines. It is also a professional exhibition for technical exchanges and new product launches in the Philippine automotive industry.
♦ Manila is a city with a long history. It blends Eastern and Western cultures, incorporating elements of Indian, Chinese, and Central Asian civilizations with Spanish and American influences. It is known as the "New York of Asia."
In July, I participated in the 2019 Philippines (Manila) International Auto and Motorcycle Industry Exhibition (PHILAUTO 2019) with the Shandong Zhenghe group.

Stepping onto this South Asian island nation for the first time, the scenery is picturesque, with coconut trees and ocean breezes, creating a sense of novelty.
The Philippines has benefited from China's "Belt and Road" initiative and is developing well, with a stable monetary policy. The exchange rate is 1 USD to 5.1 Philippine pesos, and the RMB is a hard currency at 1:7. Of course, in recent years, the real estate industry has been boosted by a large number of domestic real estate investors, reaching tens of thousands of pesos per square meter. It is an undeniable fact that the consumption behavior of Chinese people has influenced Southeast Asia.

Prices aren't very high; it's a foodie's paradise. It feels good to earn money in China and spend it here. It's less than three hours from Guangzhou, there's no time difference, the scenery is beautiful, and the pace of life is slow. After a few days, I feel like I'm loosening my belt every day.
Investment and factory construction must have Filipino shareholders holding controlling stakes. Taxes are not very strict; commercial tax is 12%, but industrial tax is unclear. Customs clearance fees are said to be very high, but they can be negotiated. It's a country that purely imports industrial products. An investment of $30,000 can obtain a formal green card, which is convenient for business people. Retirement immigration is encouraged (depositing a certain amount of US dollars into an account can enjoy limited pension benefits).

Overlooking Manila Bay. The Philippines has a total of 7107 islands, of which 2400 have names, and more than 1000 are inhabited. It fits the Chinese saying "a plate of loose sand", haha, just my personal opinion.

Leisurely street scene

The people I met were polite and civilized. Even those cleaning windshields for tips had bright smiles. Influenced by American colonial culture, it's called "mini-America," which is probably why "Filipino maids" are welcomed worldwide. Once a culture permeates all levels of society, it's truly admirable. Hotel and restaurant waiters speak English, and they open doors for you; consumers really feel like valued guests. After staying in a place like this for a long time, you definitely won't adapt when you return home (no one opens doors for you, will you hit your head on the glass?).

Street vendors selling fresh crabs and black tiger prawns.
Two guys carrying seafood with scales, smiling. It seems they don't sell much, they are really carefree.

There are many large shopping malls with abundant goods. Clothing is cheaper than in China, the shopping environment is elegant, and the service staff are very friendly. You can use Alipay, which is very convenient. It's easy to try on clothes. The best part is that there's no rule like in China where you have to pay for the clothes at the counter and then pick them up. You take the clothes to the cashier yourself to pay. I was worried that if I didn't pay, I could just take them, because no one was following me.

The gambling industry is developed and supported by the government. It is said that the service is high-end and the facilities are luxurious, but I feel that it's best to admire it from afar.

Coastal scenery

Many motorcycles, few bicycles, a resting cyclist.

Beach volleyball

The singing performers are very skilled. Enjoying the sea breeze and listening to the singer's self-accompanied singing, I feel the peace of life.

There are many restaurants by the sea, with beautiful environments and sumptuous buffets. I ate until my stomach was full and my eyes were hungry.

Flower cars (fancy jeepneys) are everywhere on the streets. They are American-style jeepneys, similar to beckoning taxis. You wave to stop them, and they stop at the back of the car. It's very convenient and a popular choice for citizens. Tourists unfamiliar with the routes can't experience it. I feel it's very beneficial for reducing traffic congestion. These vehicles are mostly made of old parts, with handmade bodies, like elongated jeeps. It is said that in the early days, the flower cars were brightly decorated and equipped with deafening sound systems, which was very eye-catching. Now, they are strictly regulated, without sound systems, and have become ordinary means of transportation.

Galvanized iron sheets, rough welding, in line with the wild style of jeeps.

The auto parts street in Quezon City, with many Japanese brands, many models unseen in China, and very cool off-road vehicles. I'm envious, jealous, and hateful.

A simple car tinting stall

Coconut Palace, built with coconut trees and coconut shells.
Do you know what the collection in this Coconut Palace is?
Shoes! That's right, all shoes! Of course, not ordinary people's shoes.
Shoes of Imelda Marcos, wife of the former, former, former president of the Philippines, totaling more than 3000 pairs!

It is said that the rule that the chairman would not receive foreign guests in his later years was broken by Imelda's persistence and dramatic performance!
