and Media Promotion Conference

On the afternoon of June 30, the 2020 Shandong Export Commodities (Australia) Cloud Exhibition concluded successfully. This "cloud exhibition" received registrations from 50 Australian purchasing companies and over 270 supplier companies from Shandong Province. Through precise pre-matching, the event paired 33 Australian purchasing companies with 88 Shandong suppliers, arranging 118 one-on-one online negotiations.

During the epidemic, the shift of traditional exhibitions from offline to online has proven effective, becoming a new customer acquisition channel for many foreign trade companies and accelerating their transformation. Given the close economic and trade cooperation and strong economic complementarity between Shandong and Australia, the 2020 Shandong Export Commodities (Australia) Cloud Exhibition and Media Promotion Conference was held. This event was hosted by the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce and undertaken by Shandong Zhenghe International Exhibition Co., Ltd., with strong support from the Chinese Consulate General in Adelaide, the South Australian Government Department of Trade and Investment, the Australia Shandong Overseas Chinese Association, ANZ Bank, the Shandong General Chamber of Commerce in South Australia, the People's Daily Overseas Edition Australia Multimedia Center, and the Sydney Branch of the China Construction Bank.
Exhibition Highlights
This cloud exhibition, themed "Haiker Selection," utilized the People's Daily Overseas Edition's "multimedia online live broadcast promotion" sub-venue. Five key enterprises from our province showcased "local products" to global users through "content e-commerce." Australian and global buyers could view Shandong's high-quality brands and products and learn about their stories via mobile devices. The event facilitated precise matching and connection between Shandong product companies and Australian purchasing companies online.
Guest Speeches

In his speech, Lv Wei, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, stated that the economic and trade relationship between Shandong and Australia is developing rapidly with broad prospects, particularly in areas such as machinery equipment, textiles and clothing, and electrical and electronic products. 2020 marks the 34th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Shandong Province and South Australia, with consistent friendly exchanges and mutual visits. While the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily prevents face-to-face meetings, communication continues through the internet and cloud computing platforms, shifting exchanges from offline to online. This is a beneficial attempt to innovate the economic and trade cooperation model between Shandong and Australia.

In her online speech, He Lanjing, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Adelaide, noted that Shandong is a major manufacturing province and a strong economic province in China, and its building materials and household goods are quite popular in South Australia. This cloud exhibition will provide a good platform for both sides to showcase their characteristic industries and products, enhance brand awareness, and facilitate negotiations and connections between supply and demand. This also explores new ways to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Li Qiwei, Minister of the South Australian Government Department of Trade and Investment, delivered a speech, stating that maintaining close contact with China is crucial for local business under the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. He also mentioned that the Shandong Provincial Economic and Trade Representative Office in Oceania is located in Adelaide, open to businesses in South Australia and China, providing support in trade services and business connections. He sincerely hopes that companies from both sides can gain friendship and achieve mutual benefit through this event.

Jin Yangtong, General Manager of the Sydney Branch of the China Construction Bank, and Dong Bo, General Manager of the People's Daily Overseas Edition Australia Multimedia Center, also delivered online speeches. Under the special circumstances, everyone gathered together through the "cloud platform" to discuss business opportunities and explore new cooperation opportunities.
High-Precision Matching: Businesses Seek New Opportunities
Online exhibitions have a wider coverage and can better achieve precise one-on-one matching between buyers and sellers. In this event, exhibits covered multiple products and industries, including food, medical supplies, daily consumer goods, mining machinery, commercial cleaning supplies and equipment, natural gas, plastic wood products, smart home and control systems, smart home appliances, smart bathroom products, building materials, and modern fruit and vegetable cultivation. Nearly 300 Shandong supplier companies registered in advance. Data empowerment resulted in the matching of 33 Australian purchasing companies with 88 Shandong suppliers, arranging 118 one-on-one online negotiations. This shows that under the current circumstances, many companies are eager to explore new foreign trade channels to increase revenue.

The Australian buyer's intention was clear, and both sides will communicate via WeChat later. The company expressed gratitude for the opportunity and stated that Australia has always been a target market. They found the online approach excellent, allowing direct communication with potential buyers, even better than the Canton Fair, and hoped for more opportunities to participate in the future.
