1. Basic Information

Formerly known as the "Gold Coast," Ghana is located in West Africa, bordering the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean to the south. It has a coastline of 562 kilometers and a land area of nearly 240,000 square kilometers. Ghana's population is approximately 31.4 million, with English as its official language. It boasts convenient land, sea, and air transportation, with Tema Port serving as a major regional seaport.

Due to its advantageous geographical location, Ghana has become a crucial hub for goods trade in West Africa, radiating its influence to a market of over 300 million people within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Ghana's economy is primarily agricultural, with its three traditional export products—gold, cocoa, and timber—forming its economic pillars. Historically known as the "Gold Coast," Ghana is renowned for its substantial gold reserves. It also possesses abundant resources such as diamonds, crude oil, iron ore, bauxite, manganese, and limestone.
