II. Exhibition Introduction

The Korea Busan International Machinery Exhibition, organized by the Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Machine Tool Industry Association, will be grandly held at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center from May 24-27, 2021. The exhibition area is expected to reach 39,000㎡, with 2200 booths. This exhibition will promote the integrated development of Korean IT technology and machinery by showcasing cutting-edge mechanical equipment, focusing on high-end products such as advanced CNC machine tools, high-end laser cutting/welding machinery, high-end machining equipment, smart factory solutions, robots, CNC machine tool parts, new material applications, and 3D printers. The organizing committee has specifically invited 2900 professional buyers from 40 countries including Germany, the United States, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Peru, China, Turkey, and Finland, and the total number of domestic and international professional purchasers is expected to reach 130,000 interested in the exhibition's offerings and technologies.

III. Market Analysis

Busan, Ulsan, and Changwon are important machinery industrial bases in Korea's southeastern industrial belt, accounting for 53% of Korea's total machinery industrial output. The machinery industry is a core foundation supporting Korea's overall industry and has become a powerful engine driving Korea's economic growth. Machinery production ranks sixth in the world, and exports rank eighth. In recent years, the integration of Korean IT technology and mechanical processing has further deepened, leading to a significant increase in high-end product exports. In 2017, total exports amounted to 59.6 billion USD, and total machinery product imports were 32.95 billion USD, of which 7.33 billion USD were imported from China. Exports showed a growth trend for the first time, and China has remained Korea's largest machine tool import market for five consecutive years.
