Market Analysis:

The World Bank report, "Global Economic Prospects," mentions that the African economy will grow at 5.1% in 2015 and 2016, with East Africa leading the rapid economic growth in Africa. According to data released by the Algerian Ministry of Finance, Algeria's economic growth rate is expected to be 4.5% in 2018 (3% in 2013), and the gross national product will reach US$227.3 billion. Although the national economy is on an upward trend, the proportion of the non-oil sector in the national economy will decline, and is expected to be 5.4% (6.3% in 2013). The oil sector is expected to account for 27.5% of the gross national product. In other sectors, the agricultural growth rate is expected to be 6.4%, accounting for 10% of the gross national product; the industrial growth rate is about 5%; and the construction industry growth rate is about 6.8% (7.8% in 2013).

At the seventh Sino-Algerian Joint Economic and Trade Committee co-chaired by Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng and Algerian Minister of Trade Amara Ben Younes on April 10 this year, it was stated that in recent years, the two sides have made significant progress in cooperation in various fields, and China's "Belt and Road" initiative is highly consistent with Algeria's economic development direction. "After more than 30 years of reform and opening up, China has accumulated rich experience in industrial development and cost-effective superior production capacity, which is suitable for Algeria's development needs. China will encourage Chinese companies to expand investment and cooperation in high-speed rail, power, steel, cement, minerals, oil and gas, and new energy." Amara Ben Younes expressed his willingness to jointly build the "Belt and Road" with China and welcomed Chinese companies to participate in the construction of Algeria's infrastructure and other fields, enriching the content of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Algeria is located in North Africa, on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and faces European countries such as France, Italy, and Spain across the sea. The country covers an area of 2.38 million square kilometers and has a population of about 32.9 million, making it the second largest country in Africa and the tenth largest in the world.

Algeria has significant investment prospects, especially in construction, with construction investors growing rapidly at an annual growth rate of 6%. Currently, a huge development project with a US$50 billion investment in infrastructure and new housing construction is quietly underway in Algeria. At the same time, to accelerate the construction of a modern public transportation network, Algeria will invest US$6 billion in building 14 light rail lines in major cities.

Both China and Algeria are developing countries with a long-standing friendship. Economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and complementary, and has great potential for cooperation.

Last Exhibition Situation

The 21st Algeria International Building Materials and Construction Machinery Exhibition (BATIMATEC) was successfully held from May 3-7, 2018. Our company has organized groups to participate in the Algeria International Building Materials and Construction Machinery Exhibition (BATIMATEC) for seven consecutive years since 2009, and the exhibition results have been getting better year by year.

The exhibitors in 2018 achieved satisfactory trade results, with particularly outstanding results in sheet materials, door and window hardware, construction machinery, glass, ceramics, and activity board houses. On-site transactions were active, and one of our exhibitors signed a US$400 million order on-site; many orders were signed on-site by exhibitors in 2018, and most exhibitors said it was worthwhile and have already signed up for the next exhibition.

This exhibition attracted nearly 1,000 exhibitors from 25 countries, including 450 international exhibitors. The exhibition area reached more than 44,000 square meters, including 25,080 square meters indoors and 18,920 square meters outdoors. China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Turkey participated as national pavilions, and there were also exhibitors from Belarus, Egypt, Greece, Portugal, and Tunisia; about 45,000 professional buyers, purchasers, wholesalers, architects, engineers, and real estate developers from the Middle East, Africa, and Europe came to visit and negotiate. More than 150 Chinese companies participated in this exhibition, nearly double the number of the previous session. The exhibited products mainly included ceramics, stone, decoration materials, aluminum-plastic panels, wood products, construction machinery, glass, and sanitary ware fittings. Participating companies generally reported good results!
