Exhibition Overview:

The Thailand Food Expo (THAIFEX-World of Food Asia) is the most influential food and beverage exhibition in Asia, having been held for 14 years. Concurrent exhibitions include World of Seafood, World of Food Service, and World of Coffee & Tea.

The organizer is the Singapore branch of Koelnmesse. Koelnmesse is one of the world's largest exhibition organizers, and the exhibitions it holds are leading events in their respective industries. This exhibition is also the best in the region for the food and beverage industry.

Review of the Previous Session:

In 2017, 2,169 exhibitors from 130 countries participated, significantly increasing the level of internationalization. Among them, 1087 exhibitors came from Europe, North America, South America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. In addition, the debut of national pavilions from countries such as Chile, India, Indonesia, Norway, and Cambodia significantly increased the exhibition area, bringing it to 93,500 square meters across 9 halls. The number of visitors increased by 33.93% compared to the previous session. On-site trade transactions reached millions of US dollars.

An exhibitor from the Indonesian national pavilion achieved remarkable results, signing contracts for 35 containers of Indonesian shrimp and fish cakes worth US$950,000 on-site. Indonesian seafood exporters also reached cooperation agreements with buyers from Europe, the United States, Mexico, Thailand, and other countries.

Market Analysis:

▼ Thailand implements a free trade policy, and foreign trade plays an important role in the Thai national economy. Foreign trade maintains a rapid growth momentum, and the proportion of total foreign trade value in the national GDP (foreign trade dependence) increases year by year. ▼ With the completion and commissioning of fruit logistics centers in Yantai, China, and other places, it will greatly promote the development of fruit and vegetable trade between the two countries, which have complementary advantages. In addition, the proportion of chemical fertilizers and pesticides imported from China accounts for only about 21% of the total imports. Considering the long-term national strategy and the overall situation of food security, China should also actively promote and increase the share of our chemical fertilizers and pesticides exported to Thailand in the future.

▼ Due to the further decline in tariff levels within the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area in 2011, the economies of China and Thailand will continue to maintain rapid growth, and exchanges between the governments and enterprises of the two countries will become closer. The China Import and Export Commodities Fair will be held regularly in Thailand, and the Thailand Fruit Yantai Logistics Center in Shandong has begun construction. The simultaneous appreciation of the RMB and the Thai baht has offset the adverse effects on each other, and the main import and export commodities of both sides continue to maintain stable growth. All these ensure that bilateral trade between China and Thailand will enter a new stage of development.
