Exhibition Introduction:

The Peru International Food Expo is one of the most important industry exhibitions in Latin America, attracting food enterprises from around the world. Market Outlook:

In the mid-19th century, after the abolition of slavery in Latin America, there was a severe labor shortage. Approximately 100,000 Chinese people, including those who failed in the Taiping Rebellion, successively came to Peru as 'contract laborers' and made outstanding contributions to Peru's development. In terms of ancestry, currently 1.5 million to 2.5 million people in Peru have Chinese heritage, accounting for about 15% of the total population. There are nearly 10,000 Chinese restaurants called 'CHIFA' in the capital Lima alone. Chinese food is especially popular.

China and Peru have established a comprehensive strategic partnership. China has become Peru's largest trading partner, and Peru is also an important investment destination for China in Latin America. Economic and trade cooperation between the two sides will be further strengthened in the future. In 2016, Peru's total trade volume was US$83.852 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%, of which exports amounted to US$45.639 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%, and imports amounted to US$41.113 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%. Major trading partners include China, the United States, Brazil, and Canada. From January to March 2017, the bilateral goods import and export value between Peru and China was US$4.83 billion, an increase of 30.3%. Among these, Peru's exports to China were US$2.82 billion, an increase of 64.2%, accounting for 28.5% of Peru's total exports, an increase of 5.9 percentage points; Peru's imports from China were US$2.01 billion, an increase of 1.0%, accounting for 21.7% of Peru's total imports, a decrease of 1.5 percentage points. From January to March, Peru had a trade surplus of US$810 million with China, whereas it was a deficit in the same period last year. China is Peru's largest export market and second largest source of imports.
