The UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship ( ICA) recently announced that it would extend the grace period for expired tourist visas for those who entered after March 1, for one month until September 11 . Previously, the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship had set August 11 as the deadline for people who entered after March 1 and were stranded due to the pandemic to leave without paying fines. The UAE government urged those who meet the above requirements to use this grace period to leave or renew their visas as soon as possible, without paying any fees; For tourist visa holders who leave after the grace period, a fine must be paid, amounting to 200 dirhams for the first day of overstay, and 100 dirhams for each subsequent day 。
Previously, the UAE government announced that for those who entered before March 1, if their tourist visas expire, they must leave the UAE by August 18; for UAE residents whose long-term residency visas expired between March 1 and July 12, there will be a 3-month grace period, and they must complete renewal by October 10; for UAE residents whose long-term residency visas expire after July 12, there will be a 30-day grace period to choose to leave or update relevant documents. After the grace period, for those holding expired long-term residency visas, the government will charge a fine of 25 dirhams per day, and an additional fine of 250 dirhams upon departure
The Abu Dhabi government announced that UAE residents stranded abroad will no longer need to provide a travel permit issued by the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship ( ICA) when entering via Abu Dhabi. The new regulation will take effect on August 11. Previously, to control the import of COVID-19, the UAE government stipulated that residents holding long-term residency visas for Dubai needed to obtain a travel permit issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai; residents holding long-term residency visas for other emirates had to apply for a travel permit through the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship website before returning to the UAE.
