III. Market Introduction

Peru, the "Andean Condor," is located in western South America, across the Pacific Ocean from China. It is one of the earliest Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with and conduct trade with New China. China and Peru have established a comprehensive strategic partnership. China is Peru's largest trading partner, and Peru is an important investment destination for China in Latin America. In June 2024, President Dina Boluarte of the Republic of Peru was invited to visit China for a state visit, focusing on in-depth exchanges in the fields of culture, science and technology, trade and investment, and infrastructure construction. This visit has built a strong platform to upgrade bilateral trade agreements and promote bilateral trade. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, in the first 10 months of 2024, China's import and export trade with Peru totaled 254.69 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.8%.

Peru is one of the Latin American countries where Chinese people arrived earliest and have the largest population. Overseas Chinese are a link in the emotional connection between China and Peru, and also messengers of cultural exchange between the two countries. Walking on the streets of Lima, you can see Chinese restaurants everywhere, and food from China is very popular among the Latin American people.

In addition, Peru is the world's largest exporter of asparagus and chili peppers, the world's largest producer of fishmeal and fish oil, the world's largest exporter of organic bananas and organic coffee, the world's second largest exporter of ready-to-eat asparagus, the world's third largest exporter of canned pepper, the world's fifth largest exporter of mangoes, the world's fifth largest exporter of avocados, the world's seventh largest exporter of giant squid, and also a source of high-quality imports.

IV. Review of Previous Sessions

The Latin America (Peru) International Food Exhibition has been successfully held 16 sessions, is one of the most important industry exhibitions in Latin America, attracting food, packaging and processing machinery companies from all over the world, is your ideal platform to explore the South American market. The exhibition uses three exhibition halls with clear divisions: food and beverage exhibition area, food processing equipment and packaging materials exhibition area, food technology and services and Peruvian specialty products exhibition area.

In 2024, a total of 687 exhibitors participated, of which 520 were Peruvian companies and 167 were international exhibitors. International exhibitors came from 18 countries and regions around the world, including China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Indonesia, Bolivia, and Sri Lanka. Chinese exhibitors' products involved flour products, dehydrated vegetables, seasonings, canned food, snacks; as well as food packaging bags, food packaging boxes, disposable tableware, gloves, straws; and fish meal processing equipment, puffed food equipment, fruit and vegetable processing equipment, grain and oil machinery equipment, weighing equipment, packaging equipment, etc. During the exhibition, more than 29,000 domestic and foreign visitors came to the exhibition site. Among them, more than 1,600 professional buyers came for business negotiations, about 430 from Peru and 1,200 international buyers. The expected transaction volume is US$695 million, an increase of 28% over last year.
