Exhibition Introduction:

The Colombia Food Exhibition (ALIMENTEC) is Colombia's most important professional trade show for the food industry. This biennial food exhibition has become the most representative industry event for food processing, fruits and vegetables, beverages, food machinery and equipment, food packaging, technology, and services.

Market Outlook:

Colombia's population is 45.51 million (2010); Area: 1,141,748 square kilometers. Located in northwestern South America, it belongs to the Andean Community of Nations. The Andean Community of Nations was established in 1969 by 5 South American countries including Colombia, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Ecuador. Its purpose is to make full use of regional resources, promote balanced and coordinated development among member countries, abolish customs barriers between member countries, form a common market, and accelerate the process of economic integration and trade liberalization. The economies of China and Colombia are highly complementary, with great potential for cooperation. In recent years, bilateral trade has maintained a good development momentum.

The 2012 World Economic Forum Latin America Meeting will be held in Cartagena, a northern city in Colombia. The theme of this conference is "Building New Alliances for Restoring Sustainable Economic Development." It can be seen that in the context of global economic recovery, Latin American countries, on the one hand, need to keep pace with the world's economic powers to drive national economic development; on the other hand, sustainability will also be an indispensable part of future Latin American economic development. Over 550 government leaders, business, and economic leaders from Latin America and other countries and regions of the world will attend the meeting. Colombia is the only country in South America bordering both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, boasting a superior geographical location and abundant natural resources. Its population is approximately 45.5 million, with an area of 1,142,000 square kilometers (about 32 times the size of Taiwan). In 2010, its economy was the fourth largest in Latin America (2010 GDP approximately US$285.5 billion), trailing only Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.
